Twitter Explosion!!!!!!

Twitter is one of the fastest growing, social networking websites we have today (besides Facebook and Myspace). However, are these social networks becoming more-and-more addicting? I would have to say that they are.

An example of this becoming apart of our daily lives was the whole Iran situation. when they were having major protests, something “BIG” was happing in the United States. Michael Jackson died. Apparently to our culture, entertainment is more important than global news.

Another example of this ‘obsessive” website, is when they had a huge failure. Someone had hacked into Twitter and caused a slow down on it. People could not view other status updates, which caused them to “flip a nut.” They went ballistic.

Did you know that Twitter is a $1 billion company? That is alot of cash. They raised  over $50 million dollars to help start this company. To me, that is an obsessive amount of money to spend on something that is really not necessary. Granted it is a company and they do need money to keep it going, but what was wrong with Myspace or Facebook? Absolutely nothing.

Some type of entertainment will always be coming out. What does that say about us? Does that make us dependent on entertainment? It seems that the more stuff that comes out, the more “brainwashed” we get. It seems like we always have to have the latest things. Our society is obsessed with having the best of the best. It is all about competition.

Why are people so warped into having to check their twitter accounts or facebooks? I believe that the more advance these websites get, the more addicting they our to our generation. Everyone has to see what is going on in the world when they want to. Do they no why Twitter slows down or delays sometimes? It is because everyone in the world is accessing it at the same time and wants to know the latest scandals. I think that Twitter should shut down for a week so that we can prove a point of everybody’s obesity with it.
