MY OBAMA MONEY!!!

If President Obama called me and told me that he would give me one billion dollars to start a business, I would be happy. I would open up a building that supplied jobs for everyone that has lost them. It would be a building that had a bunch of different sections to it with many different jobs. For instance, there would be one section where people would put chairs together or put tables together to sell. Everyone would be assigned a specific area. This building would also hold a shelter for the homeless people that are working in it. They would put in 10% of what they earned and would use it to pay the rent. They were only allowed 3 late bills, at which point they would be kicked out of the housing area for the 4th late bill. Then after that, they would be allowed more hours everyday to make up the checks.

In the back of this building would be another building to house the animals of these people. There would be a stable for horses and an area for cows. There would also be an area for the kids to play in. There would be a jungle gym, a football field, and a basketball/volleyball court. The children would still go to their same school that they had previously gone to, until the new school/church addition in the fall of 2010.  Until then, the church goers will have to walk or ride the bus 3.8 miles to the nearest church. This building will be opened in the winter of 2009. The maximum occupancy of this building is 450 people. The animal housing will be able to hold 500 smaller animals. The stable will hold 75 horses and the cow area(barn) will hold 64 cows. The church/school will hold 128 people and will have 16 different rooms. 8 of the rooms would be for school, and the other 8 would be for the church.

Does Homework Work?

Honestly, I do think that homework works. It gives the student extra practice on the subject they are learning. More time and effort put into something, the more you will learn how to do it. Practice Makes Permanent. Everyone says practice makes perfect, but does it really make you perfect or does it help what you will do permanently? I think that if you keep practicing something than, it will become more embedded into your head which makes the outcome permanent. I do think that there is such a thing as an overload of homework, but for someone to say that homework does not work is purely making a false statement. In order to learn a new language you have to practice at it in order to learn it. So would Miss Kohn be telling us that if we practice and do work in order to learn a new language, would be useless and not help us at all? Kohn stated that most kids dread doing homework. That is a true statement. However, for someone to say that homework is a waste of time, is wrong. Granted I do not like doing homework, but it is not a complete waste of time. Anything that children practice at will benefit them some time in the future.
